Toronto Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden World Series after 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the defending champions, who are the current crown, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."

George Springer has now connected for 23 playoff homers, making him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd choose in that moment other than Springer with his post-season brilliance," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their work in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we ended up on the wrong side of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays won the World Series on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
