Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be asked about his position after a further heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received significant support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a period of this nature with performances so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
