Marnus Labuschagne Left Out from Australian One-Day International Team Versus India
Labuschagne finds himself omitted from Australia's three-match ODI series facing India, with in-form Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw receiving a unexpected inclusion.
Recent Form Lead to Omission
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the one-day international squad following being dismissed for one in each of his two innings during the top-end series against South Africa in August. Labuschagne has a top score of 47 in his previous ten ODI innings.
Labuschagne has played 68 one-day internationals and accumulated 1,871 ODI runs at an average of 34.64, but will now work towards a return to the Test side ahead of the Ashes starting in Perth on November 21.
Surprise Inclusion and Other Squad Changes
Labuschagne has shown signs of a return to form with 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw made a hundred for the Bulls in the identical match against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his first white-ball appearance in the upcoming series against India after his last inclusion in an ODI squad in 2022.
Renshaw has played 14 Tests with the most recent appearance in India in 2023 but is also aiming for a Test return as Australia search for a answer to their opening batting issues.

Australia have named a squad for only the first two T20s against India with the upcoming Ashes series, although Glenn Maxwell will miss all of the five-game T20 series due to a wrist injury suffered in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will lead both the ODI and T20 sides after hitting a ton in the last match against New Zealand to seal a two-nil victory last week.
“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and first two games of the T20 series as there will be player management through the later stages of the series as players get ready for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket,” selection chief George Bailey said.
“The bulk of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an important period in the build towards the T20 World Cup next year, however we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously get ready certain individuals for the Test matches ahead.”
Australia’s three-game ODI series against India begins on October 19 in Perth, before the opponents play five T20 internationals from 29 October.
